Going further, you’ll visit the second-coldest inhabited place in the world: Drass. Also, don’t miss out on the Kargil War Memorial on your road trip to Leh from Srinagar. By late evening, you’ll enter Kargil, where you can check into your hotel room and spend the night.
Head for the much-awaited moon land of your Leh Ladakh tour itinerary. This day is the highlight of your Ladakh tour. The real journey will begin on this day as you travel to Leh. After having your breakfast in the morning, you’ll drive down to Leh and, on the way, cross charming stopovers such as Lamayuru and Alchi. The ancient monasteries of Mulbekh and Lamayuru will fill your heart with spirituality. After breakfast, drive to Turtuk (which was first opened for tourists in 2010), which is a place Turtuk, annexed by India only after the 1971 war, is one of India’s only Balti villages and is located right next to the LOC. Turtuk village, with its entire Muslim population, still resembles a miniature Pakistan. The village’s inhabitants still use traditional utensils, which are crafted from stone. Explore the village of Turtuk. Turtuk village offers views of a beautiful valley, part of Shyok Valley. On a clear day, you can see the K2 mountain peak in Pakistan, which is located across the border.
